About Roam Yellowstone
Roam Yellowstone Guiding was founded by the company owner, guide and publisher of this website - Todd Schlotfeldt.
"Over the course of my guiding career in Yellowstone, I've guided hundreds of tours and over a thousand travelers through the park. I've helped individuals, couples and groups of 15+ plan out their trip - everything from where to stay, where to eat to what to wear and what to see! Helping people and groups from all walks of life have a world class trip isn't always easy, but it is something I take pride in and love to do. I am an avid outdoorsman and traveler myself and know how far good local intel can go towards having a epic vacation.
Due to a variety of factors, I no longer guide many tours into the park; however, I still live in the area and am a very frequent visitor. Although I am not taking many tours into the park, that doesn't mean I can't help visitors to the area have a great time. I am using my website to give everything Yellowstone related from my brain straight to you! I hope you find some use in this website while pondering what to see and do during your trip to Yellowstone." -Todd
More about the Author
"I am a lifelong Montana resident, raised in NW Montana near Glacier National Park. Growing up with a national park in my "back yard" lead me to become a bit of a madman regarding outdoor recreation... over the years I have more than dabbled in many forms of interacting with the wild. Camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, backpacking, skiing (downhill and backcountry), rafting, rock, ice and alpine climbing, canyoneering, mountain biking, dirt biking, surfing, and photography are all skills I have in my repertoire. Now, I'm not saying I'm proficient or even good at many of these, but that's beside the point! I love the wild and respect it; I believe it offers us all an incredible way to connect with the world and can guide many of us through life. You know what they say - the best (insert whatever activity you're talking about here) is the one having the most fun!
Given my upbringing and hobbies, it was natural that I studied to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Aside from a college education, my hobbies require that I know what to do in case the soup hits the fan. I previously held an EMT license and nowadays stay current with first aid and CPR as well as partner rescue scenarios for climbing and backcountry skiing accidents. Upon graduating, I dreaded the idea of a 9-5 and a "career", so I never got one! Using my education, skills and the judgment gained from my hobbies, I decided to make the great outdoors my office. Roam Yellowstone Guiding was born.
Currently residing in the less than humble college town of Bozeman, I have easy access to the entire greater Yellowstone area and I hear all about the goings on of the park. I use the current intel of the area and my hard won guiding knowledge to help visitors make memories.
As always, be cool, be kind and HAVE FUN!
Happy Trails,"

"Todd gave us an all day October hike tour. It was fantastically wrapped with stories and history of the park and surroundings. He gave us a cool compass and map class and was always checking and comparing water temps of the geysers and creeks and we moved along the trail. I highly recommend his services. He recommended a great local bar in a small town about 1/2 way back down to the Bozeman area. Make sure you ask him for this so you can meet some great local folks."

"We cannot say enough about Todd and our excursion. My wife and I have two small boys, ages 8 and 6. Todd was fantastic about emailing before the trip, sent us a menu of foods to choose from, provided us information about our hike, and even picked us up from our Airbnb in Bozeman. Todd is a native from Montana who studied at Montana State. He certainly knows the local mountains, landmarks, animals, vegetation, etc.

"Our guided hike with Todd through Bunsen Peak and Osprey Falls of Yellowstone was the highlight of our weeklong trip out West!odd provided a safe and enjoyable hike that gave us the confidence and knowledge we needed for the remainder of our vacation. At the culmination of our hike, we even saw a grizzly bear from afar and were able to observe her and her cubs from a distance with the binoculars and scope Todd provided. I would recommend Roam to anyone visiting the greater Yellowstone area, we truly had an amazing experience and cannot wait to return!"

"We are a family of 6 adults and had a GREAT tour with Todd. Todd is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, customized the stops for us, and included a great lunch in the price. He picked us up at our Air bnb on Bozeman and filled us in on everything about Yellowstone-National-Park and stories about the area. Due to his Environmental Sciences degree, he also went into great detail about the geological, chemical, and environmental details of formations, forest, and more. We were very happy to support a small local business as well. Absolutely perfect trip. I highly recommend Roam Yellowstone."
