This is the #1 hike we offer for seeing the best of Yellowstone's geothermal activity. Availability starts after memorial day when the trail opens. The trail is in a Bear Management area and is closed for part of the year. With the proper knowledge and preparation, hiking in bear country can be made safer and offer the chance to see some of North America's top predators.
On the trail, the first stop is a sight that people travel thousands of mile for. Yellowstone National Park's Middle Geyser Basin is home to the world's 3rd largest hot springs: Grand Prismatic Springs. Grand Prismatic is an utterly alien geothermal feature and its uniqueness is not rivaled outside of Yellowstone.
Another feature of this trail is the 150+ foot waterfall that the trail is named after! Fairy Falls is a tall and beautiful waterfall. Watching the chilly mountain runoff tumble down the basalt cliffs while feeling the refreshing spray is a highly memorable experience.
Near to Fair Falls are the Imperial and Spray geysers. Geysers are part of what makes Yellowstone such a renowned park. What better way to experience them than by watching them without the crowds? Enjoying lunch next to a geyser is the highlight of many participant's trips to Yellowstone. As Yellowstone National Park guides, Roam Yellowstone Guides are very knowledgeable about the geology and hydrology that make the geothermal features of Yellowstone possible.
The trail is mellow with little elevation gain making it accessible for anyone with a desire to spend their day among Yellowstone's geothermal features!
