Yellowstone Access Details
This is a subtitle for your new post
Most visitors to Yellowstone National Park are now aware of the record flooding that happened in June of 2022. These floods exceeded record flows on many stream gauges, caused widespread destruction to roads and infrastructure inside and outside of the park, and forced the closure of the North Entrance to visitors and Lamar Valley to all traffic for most of the 2022 season.
I am happy to say that as of November 1st, the park service opened the North entrance and NE entrance road (through Lamar Valley) to visitors again!
It is time to start planning your future visits to Yellowstone! As far as anyone can predict, we are looking forward to the standard access to the park that Yellowstone typically allows!
- This means that visitors can take a tour or drive their own vehicles in the North entrance to see Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley and Cooke City year round.
- All the other roads in the park are now closed for the winter season (normal closures) and will begin to reopen to the public in late April of 2023.
- More info on road opening and closing dates can be found here: https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/parkroads.htm
The park service and road work crews worked exceptionally hard to ensure access to and from Yellowstone for all of us, so be sure to take advantage of their hard work this winter and next summer season!
We are looking forward to exploring winter scenery, wildlife watching and soaking in some of the developed springs outside of the park this winter! Visit our Winter Tours Page for more info.
